HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians shook off losing Tuesday’s first game and came back to beat the Holland Patent Golden Knights 3-1 on the road.
The 22-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-11 victory improved Herkimer’s record to 2-1 under first-year varsity coach Kristen Guernsey.
Caitlyn Roorda had 15 kills, three aces, two digs and an assist for the Magicians; Jami Peters had 20 assists, two aces and three digs; Krista Green had six kills and eight digs; and Gracie Schrader had six digs, three aces, two kills and an assist.
Holland Patent won the junior varsity match in two games.
Herkimer plays at home Friday against Dolgeville.

CLINTON, N.Y. — The Mt. Markham Mustangs swept three games from Clinton Tuesday, winning by scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-19.
Courtney Thompson had eight aces, a kill and two digs for Mt. Markham (3-1); Kaleigh Bryce had six assists, two aces, two kills and one dig; Carryn Williams had four kills, one assist and one dig; Bridget Wilcox had five kills, two aces and five digs; Claire Ladlee had three kills and one dig; Alex Hoover had three kills and one dig; Hannah Barrett had three assists and one ace; Megan Wool had six digs and served an ace; Brianna Wilcox had two digs and one kill; Emily Crawford had two digs, an ace and an assist; Olivia Thomson had one ace, one kill and one dig; and Ashley Johnson had one dig.
Sophie Atik had seven digs, three assists and a block for Clinton (0-4); Maggie Billiter had four kills and two blocks; Rachel Evans had eight assists and five digs; and Jordan Provost had four kills and one block.
Mt. Markham is home for Friday’s match against Morrisville-Eaton.
