EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — It took five games Friday but the Herkimer Magicians ended Dolgeville’s long Center State Conference winning streak with a 3-2 victory in both teams’ Division II opener.
The 20-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 28-26 defeat was Dolgeville’s first in league play since the 2005-06 season. The Blue Devils entered the new season with a 142-1 record in league play dating back to January of 2001.
Taylor Brandow had nine kills, six aces and eight digs for Dolgeville (1-2, 0-1 CSC-II); Courtney Rachon had four aces, seven kills, 18 assists and 14 digs; Mikey Rubas had seven kills, two aces, one assist and nine digs; Emilie Bode had seven kills and one dig; Kaylee Brandow had 17 digs, three aces and one kill; Annabelle Lee had four kills and one assist; Katie Millard had two aces and seven digs; Abby Mosenthin had two digs and a kill; Courtney Normoyle had 14 digs, eight assists and one ace; Camilla Rios had three digs; and Cheyanne Sullivan had two kills and an assist.
Krista Green had 10 kills, two aces, an assist and seven digs for Herkimer (3-1, 1-0 CSC-II); Caitlyn Roorda had 15 kills, two blocks, seven aces and 10 digs; Jami Peters had 20 assists, one ace and six digs; and Brittany Hunter seven aces, seven kills and 10 digs.
Herkimer was also victorious in junior varsity play, sweeping the match 28-26, 25-15. Lindsey Coonradt had five aces and two kills for Dolgeville; Raquel Borst had four kills and three digs; Rachael Gross had five assists, one ace and one kill; Emily Krasko had seven digs and two aces; and Mercedes Rumrill had two aces, three assists, one kill and two digs.
Dolgeville plays at Little Falls Monday while Herkimer is home for a match against Cooperstown.

FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights swept to a 3-0 win Friday over the Little Falls Mounties.
The Maroon Knights were 25-6, 25-12, 25-18 winners at home on the opening night of Center State Conference Division II play.
Brianna Manzo served nine aces with five assists, four kills and three digs for Frankfort-Schuyler (2-2, 1-0 CSC-II); Alyssa Unsinn had eight digs, three kills and an ace; Jamie Juliano had six assists, one ace, one kill and one dig; and Brittney Janis had six kills, one block and one dig.
Tara Van Alstine had six digs for Little Falls (0-4, 0-1 CSC-II); Lauren Shephardson had three kills and one assist; Samantha Ackerman had four assists; and Kali Yerina and Kourtney Moser each had two kills.
Frankfort-Schuyler travels to Westmoreland Monday while Little Falls has a match at home against Dolgeville.

WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — The Mt. Markham Mustangs took the first game from Section III’s reigning Class C-2 champions Friday but the unbeaten Morrisville-Eaton Warriors came back to win 3-1 on the road in Center State Conference Division III play.
