  • BOYS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Magicians notch first win against Dolgeville

  • DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians beat Dolgeville 78-51 Friday for their first win of the season.
    The Magicians (1-2, 1-1 CSC-II) played through early foul trouble and scored 20 or more points in three of the four quarters. Two starters had three fouls in the opening period.
    Tucker Vogt scored 18 points and hit five of Herkimer’s 10 three-point shots. Mitchell Scherer had 19 points and eight rebounds while Malik Briggs had 12 and eight. Andrew Stilwell chipped in with seven points and five assists.
    Brandon Lewandowski scored 20 points for Dolgeville (0-4, 0-2 CSC-II) and Alex Johnson had 15.
    Herkimer travels to Cooperstown Tuesday while Dolgeville has a game at home against Little Falls.

    LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties took control of Friday’s game in the second quarter and defeated Frankfort-Schuyler’s Maroon Knights 67-42.
    Down one point after the first quarter at home, the Mounties outscored Frankfort-Schuyler 24-5 in the second and led by 18 at halftime.
    Rahmere Greene, a former Maroon Knight, led undefeated Little Falls (4-0, 32-0 CSC-II) with 16 points. Mitchell Baumeister scored 12 while Brian Ewanyk added nine and Sam Yallowitz and James Amuso each had eight.
    Richard Morocco, Mark Spina and Shawn Welch shared the lead for Frankfort-Schuyler (1-3, 1-1 CSC-II) with nine points each.
    Both teams play on the road Tuesday, Little Falls at Dolgeville and Frankfort-Schuyler at West Canada Valley.

    COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The West Canada Valley Indians had a perfect night at the foul line Friday and defeated Cooperstown’s Hawkeyes 67-49 on the road.
    Bobby Davenport scored 20 points for the undefeated Indians (4-0, 2-0 CSC-II) who shot 12-for-12 from the free throw line. Michael Sternberg recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, Alex Williams had 15 points, five rebounds and two steals, Ryan Grogan scored eight points and Davenport had five steals.
    Christian Alexander scored 22 points to lead Cooperstown (2-3, 0-2 CSC-II).

    Brady Murphy scored 14 points and Ethan Harris had 10 for the Indians (0-3, 0-2 CSC-III).
