  • Business of the Year Awards Ceremony honors four winners

  • UTICA ó The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce honored 11 area companies and organizations at their annual Business of the Year awards ceremony on Dec. 12 at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club.
    The event also featured keynote speaker John Brown, of Coldwell Banker Faith Properties.
    Nearly 250 business professionals attended the event.
    Awards were presented to winners in four separate categories, which included business with over 50 employees; business with 50 employees or fewer; not-for-profit with over 50 employees and not-for-profit with 50 employees or fewer. Finalists were evaluated and selected based on staying power, response to challenges, product and services innovation and growth within their industry; commitment to the Mohawk Valley, longevity in the region, community involvement, public service and business leadership; and involvement in the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.
    One company from each category which was honored at the ceremony, including Northern Safety & Industrial in the business with over 50 employees category and Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in the not-for-profit with over 50 employees category. Piggy Patís BBQ was honored in the business with 50 employees or fewer category and Boilermaker Road Race was honored in the not-for-profit with fewer than 50 employees category.
