  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Little Falls off to 5-0 start

  • LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The undefeated Little Falls Mounties jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and never let up in Thursday’s 85-28 in over the Herkimer Magicians.
    The Mounties (5-0, 4-0 CSC-II) led 23-2 after an opening period in which Amy Hart and Hannah Becker each scored eight points. They came back with 19 points in the second quarter and 19 more in the third before outscoring the Magicians by 21 again in the fourth.
    Gen Schoff led Little Falls with 24 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Becker added 19 points, nine rebounds, five steals and three blocks. Cheyenne Rivenburg had eight points and 11 rebounds, Hart had 12 points and three steals, and Kelli Shepardson had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Freshman Laura Wind chipped in with seven points and four assists.
    Hannah DeLude had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for Herkimer (3-3, 1-2 CSC-II). Chelsea Jory scored eight points and McKenzie Pine grabbed eight rebounds.
    The Mounties are home again Saturday for a 4 p.m. varsity game against New York Mills. Herkimer’s next game is Dec. 30 at West Canada Valley.
