  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Poland plays for title Friday

  • BOONVILLE, N.Y. — The Poland Tornadoes outscored Sauquoit Valley 21-10 in the third quarter Thursday and earned a shot at the Adirondack Holiday Hoop Tournament title with a 43-33 win over the Indians.
    The Tornadoes take on Adirondack in the championship game Friday at 4 p.m.
    Poland (7-1) led 18-15 at halftime. Ranked 13th in the state in Class D, the Tornadoes held Sauquoit Valley (2-4) to 10 points or less in each quarter.
    Paige Sullivan led the Tornadoes with 16 points while Kara Morrison had 12 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists. Shiane Irwin added nine points and Brooke Gipe grabbed 10 rebounds.
    Brianne Cardillo led Sauquoit Valley with 10 points.

    BOONVILLE, N.Y. — The Adirondack Wildcats held Dolgeville to 12 points before halftime Thursday and defeated the Blue Devils 49-34 in the first round of the Adirondack Holiday Hoop Tournament.
    The Wildcats (3-2) raced out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter on their home court. Summer Patrick led Adirondack with 16 points. Abby Philbrick hit three three-point shots and scored 13 points while Sophi Williams scored 11.
    Emilie Lewandowski and Jackie Bange each had nine points to lead the Blue Devils (2-5).
