  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: F-S gets win against Herkimer

  • FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights shook off a slow start Monday and defeated Herkimer’s Magicians 53-33.
    The Maroon Knights (9-1, 4-1 CSC-II) fell behind 8-2 in the first quarter and scored only six points during the opening period. They came back with 23 points during the second quarter and led 29-20 at halftime. Danielle Migliore scored 11 of her game-high 19 points during the first half and Danielle Caivana contributed a pair of three-point baskets during the second quarter.
    Frankfort-Schuyler kept the pressure on after halftime, scoring the first 14 points of the third quarter to open a 23-point lead. The Maroon Knights went four minutes without scoring at the start of the fourth quarter but Herkimer (4-5, 2-3 CSC-II) got no closer than 17 points.
    Migliore had eight rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots to go with her 19 points. Caivana and Kaitlyn Di’Flo each scored eight points; Di’Flo also grabbed seven rebounds. Alexis Bianchi had six points, eight rebonds, four assists, three steals and two blocks and Kristy Wallace had five assists and three steals.
    Chelsea Jory had 10 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots for Herkimer. Hannah DeLude had eight points and seven rebounds.
    Both teams play at home Thursday, Herkimer against Oriskany and Frankfort-Schuyler against Holland Patent.
