ILION — Jonathan J. Nabinger, 25, of Ilion and formerly of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.
He was born Oct. 12, 1988, in Ilion, the son of John J. and Nancy J. (Hitchcock) Nabinger and was educated in Herkimer schools.
Jonathan was previously employed at Girmaldi’s Heating and Cooling Company in Utica.
With family as his foremost priority, Jonathan proved himself a loved and devoted son, brother and nephew. A very talented athlete, he excelled at every sport he participated in. Jonathan will be remembered as a kind-hearted person who always had a smile on his face and was always willing to lend a hand to help someone.
Survivors include his father, John of Oneida; his mother, Nancy of Ilion, a brother, Andrew Owen of Ilion; his maternal grandparents, Barbara and James Gilbert of Herkimer, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandparents, James and Joanby Nabinger and Robert A. Hitchcock, predeceased him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, 866-1500. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 4 p.m. from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, with Deacon Ron Ste. Marie officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.
