WHITESTOWN — A Schuyler man stopped for driving erratically Thursday night has been charged with drug possession and driving while impaired by drugs, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.
Andrew Waldron, 20, was stopped on Judd Road in Whitestown by members of the Rome Police Department on their way to the Oneida County jail, deputies said. Those officers then turned jurisdiction over to sheriff's deputies, who searched the vehicle based on an odor of marijuana, deputies said.
During the search, Waldron allegedly was found in possession of hydrocodone pills and marijuana. A test by the Oneida County STOP-DWI patrol also found him to be driving while impaired, deputies said.
Waldron's passenger, a 21-year-old man from New York Mills, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, which is a violation.
Both men were ticketed and will appear in Whitestown Town Court at a later date.
