BURNT HILLS — A popular bowling alley in rural Saratoga County has burned to the ground.
State and local fire investigators were at the scene Sunday to figure out what caused the intense fire that destroyed Burnt Hills Lanes on Route 50 overnight.
Burnt Hills Fire Chief Stephen Peterson tells local media outlets that a passing driver reported the fire shortly before 1:30 a.m., about 20 minutes after the bowling alley closed. The building was collapsing when firefighters arrived.
Fire companies from East Glenville, Ballston Spa, Ballston Lake, Charlton and Round Lake assisted.
Peterson says the owners had just finished three years of renovations on the bowling alley, which opened in 1959.
