  • BOYS' BASKETBALL: WCV runs past Herkimer

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — The West Canada Valley Indians outscored Herkimer 40-16 in the second and third quarters Thursday and returned to Center State Conference Division II competition with a 74-47 victory.
    The Indians (9-2, 4-1 CSC-II) trailed 15-13 after the opening period but outscored the Magicians (2-9, 2-4 CSC-II) in each of the other three.
    Alex Williams led West Canada Valley with 19 points while Jordan Yaworski added 11.
    Malik Briggs had 16 points to lead Herkimer.
    West Canada Valley has a non-league game at home Saturday afternoon against Poland. Herkimer’s next game is Tuesday at home against Dolgeville.
