  • ST. JOHNSVILLE — Lois Moskey, 84, of St. Johnsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at her home, with her loving and caring family by her side.
She was born July 13, 1929, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of the late Adam and Beatrice (Smith) Crouse, and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1946.
Her marriage to John Moskey took place on Sept. 13, 1947, at the Grace Church Parsonage in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 55 years until the passing of John in 2002.
In her early years, Lois was employed by the Little Falls Felt Shoe Company in St. Johnsville, eventually leaving there to work full time with her husband on their family farm. During those years, she also had a Saturday morning egg route where she delivered farm fresh eggs to several area customers. After selling the farm, Lois was employed for 30 years by the Little Falls - Fonda Bus Corporation as a school bus driver and by St. Johnsville Central School for 38 years as a food service worker, a position she held until retiring at the age of 82.
Lois was an avid reader. She also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as gardening, mowing her lawn and, in her younger years, snowmobiling. Lois will be remembered for her strong work ethic and positive outlook.
Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Van Gorder; two brothers, Donald Crouse, of St. Johnsville, and Raymond Crouse, of Santa Ana, Calif.; a special niece, Shirley J. Allen; a special nephew, Jeffrey Crouse; and several other nieces and nephews. Many friends, including special friends, David, Theresa and Casey Battisti, Marlene and Paul Hotaling and Janette Lynch, also survive her.
She was predeceased by two sons, David Moskey, in 1949, and Donald W. Moskey, in 2012, and a brother, Adam Crouse, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, with Rev. David Johnson officiating.
