  • Herkimer County College Foundation appoints new director

  • HERKIMER — Herkimer College has appointed Robert Fowler of New Hartford as the executive director of the Herkimer County College Foundation.
    Fowler will be responsible for development as it supports the mission of the college, including donor identification and research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, grant management and other fundraising initiatives.
    Fowler has more than 20 years of experience in communications, sales, marketing and sports management, according to a news release. He was most recently employed at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, where he developed and implemented a variety of sporting events for the Sports Management Department, the release stated. From 2007 to 2010, Fowler was tournament sales manager for the PGA Tour’s Turning Stone Resort Championship. In this role, he was responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships throughout New York and generating sales in excess of $1 million annually, the release stated.
    Prior to Turning Stone, Fowler was employed as the associate general manager at ISP Sports, Syracuse, and was general manager of the Utica Blue Sox Baseball Club in Utica.
    He holds a bachelor of arts in English from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
