  • FORT PLAIN, N.Y. — Eric Orologio pitched a three-hit shutout for his first varsity win Thursday in the Fort Plain Hilltoppers’ 4-0 victory over the Herkimer Magicians.
    Orologio struck out seven batters, walked one and allowed singles to Zack Stele, Dan Appley and Mitchell Scherer.
    Alex Bleichner had two hits for the Hilltoppers and added on run scored and one run batted in. Drew Fureno delivered a run with a squeeze bunt and scored a run, and Orologio had a hit, a run and an RBI.
    Ryan Fahy allowed five hits for Herkimer (1-2).
    The Hilltoppers (3-0, 2-0 WAC North) added a 3-2 win Friday against Canajoharie. Saturday’s game against Mekeel Christian Academy has been postponed and they will attempt to earn Craig Phillips’ 700th coaching victory at home Monday against Schoharie.
    Herkimer takes on Central Valley Academy Saturday.

    ONEIDA 12
    ONEIDA, N.Y. — Oneida’s Cole Dubois struck out nine batters over six innings Thursday in the Indians’ 12-1 win over the Central Valley Academy Thunder.
    Dubois allowed singled by Clay Colburn and Dan Lennon and limited the Thunder (1-2) to a single run in the fifth inning. Kyle George closed out the victory by pitching a hitless seventh inning.
    Drew Mallinder went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in for Oneida (2-1).
    Central Valley Academy is scheduled to play Saturday at Herkimer.
