  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — Theo Wind had four hits for Little Falls Wednesday in the Mounties’ 5-2 win over the West Canada Valley Indians.
The Mounties had a 3-0 lead early in the game and tacked on two runs in the sixth inning in support of Mitchell Baumeister who struck out seven batters, walked three, and did not allow an earned run.
Wind got the Mounties started in the first and third innings. He singled with two outs in the first inning and Alex Williams walked Sean Ward and Jon Willman to load the bases ahead of freshman Nate Zambri’s two-run single.
Wind led off the third inning with a double and scored on a two-out, two-strike single by Willman.
Baumeister drove J.J. Klimacek home with single one pitch after Klimacek advanced to second base on a balk in the sixth inning. Baumeister then stole second base and scored on a Michael Luppino single.
West Canada Valley got the tying run to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Brandon Roberts struck out on a pitch in the dirt with two outs and reached base when the ball bounced high over Willman, the Little Falls catcher. Williams singled before Josh Sudakow lined out to Jason Gallt in right field to end the game.
