Wednesday marked the fifth running of the Road Runner Mile. The mile which begins in the golf course and ends in front of the Parkway Rec. Center is quite simply a screaming downhill course. This would be the second year of the running of the ‘fast course’. The weather was warm but not oppressive but a strong headwind clearly was going to be a challenge for the participants.
Former Marcellus High School standout Chris Stogsdill, now running for Iona College, returned after a two year hiatus. Chris had cranked out a 4:15 on the ‘slow course’; the current record for the new course was 4:08. Well Mr. Stogsdill did not disappoint; in spite of the headwinds Chris logged a 4:05. With the right weather I’m confident the 4 minute mile will be broken on the male side.
By far the most exciting race was the College& Open Woman’s heat. A battle between Allison Lasnicki who runs for the University of Connecticut and Kaitlyn Day from Utica College can down to micro-seconds. Both are listed as running a 4:51 but Allison crossed slightly (and I mean slightly) ahead.
The picture tells it all, the flag in front is the finishers tape.

A final note, while Savannah Boucher from MVCC finished third in her heat ,she when out right after and promptly won the 5k Developmental Run on the Woman’s side.
