The Herkimer Village Board recently passed a resolution authorizing a $275,000 bond to purchase equipment, vehicles and make repairs to municipal buildings.
Village officials have said they attempted to keep the amount only slightly higher than a bond set to be retired, which totaled more than $255,000. In so doing, the payments will remain steady and have less of a potential impact on the tax rate, officials explained.
The five-year bond will be used for the following equipment and repairs:

Police:
• 2010 Chevy Tahoe, $37,000 (which includes over $5,000 to purchase police vehicle equipment for another 2010 Chevy Tahoe being purchased by the department by using a federal grant)

DPW:
• Parking meters, $12,000
• 1999 Volvo dump truck, $35,000
• Cement mixer, $2,600
• 2010 New Holland sidewalk plow, $23,000
• Electric entrance (street department), $9,000

Village Hall:
• Gutters on building, $4,320
• Masonry restoration, $8,900
• Painting, $3,425
• Boiler, $33,247

Fire Department:
• Rescue vehicle, $64,000
• Hose tester, $3,000
• Hose, $2,500

Water Department:
• 2010 Ford Ranger, $11,608
• Garage at filtration, $9,400

Sewer Department:
Overhead doors (2), $16,000
