The Frankfort Town Board on Thursday held a public hearing on contract proposals from the three volunteer fire departments responsible for fire protection of the municipality’s six districts.
Village of Frankfort Fire Department (Districts 2, 3, and water No. 4) submitted a $20,000 increase to $105,000 in 2010, compared to $85,000 in 2009, according to figures presented at the hearing.
Frankfort Center Fire Department (Districts 1 and 5) requested a $11,140 increase to $156,270, compared to $145,130 in 2009.
Frankfort Hill Fire Department (District 4) proposed a $14,000 increase to $60,175, compared to $46,175 in 2009.
All three department’s figures include workers’ compensation insurance costs. And Frankfort Center also includes a benefit program and $70 decrease in appropriation from a fund balance.
Joseph Kinney, town supervisor, said several residents voiced their concerns over the potential impact on their tax rates. And each taxpayer is affected solely by increases to the contract for the district in which they reside.
Kinney projected 2010 total property assessment increases for each department’s district area and gave his estimate on the impact on tax rates.
