Ilion Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at the Ilion Xtra-Mart store on Wednesday night.
Police said a man wearing a disguise and armed with a knife entered the Ilion Xtra-Mart on West Main Street in the village around 11:33 p.m. and demanded money while displaying the large knife.
The clerk activated the alarm, which prompted the man to flee the area on foot. There were no injuries to the clerk on duty.
The man was described as approximately six foot to six foot, three inches tall, average build and wearing a dark, grayish colored jacket and hood.
At this time, the investigation is continuing. Ilion Police were assisted by members of the New York State Police, State Police K-9 Unit and Frankfort Town Police.
