State police have ruled the heavy rain Monday caused the one-car accident in which an Ilion teen was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over numerous times.
Cassey Seaton, 17, of Ilion, was treated for head, arm and leg injuries he suffered in the accident on State Route 5 and released from St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, state police said Tuesday.
Seaton was ticketed for not wearing his seat belt, troopers said.
While the storm, which dumped more than an inch of rain in less than 30 minutes, is believed to have caused Seaton to lose control of his vehicle, it could not be confirmed if speed played a role, state police reported.
