Fulton County Sheriff’s Office officials Saturday confirmed a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred at 3:43 p.m. Friday on State Highway 29 in the town of Johnstown.
Sheriff Thomas J. Lorey said Gary Argostinger, 56, of State Highway 29, Mayfield, was pronounced dead after the crash that occurred at the intersection of State Highway 29 and Hales Mills Road.
Lorey said Argostinger was operating a motorcycle eastbound on State Highway 29 when another vehicle driven by Christopher L. Browell, 43, of Stone Arabia Road, Fonda, entered State Highway 29 from the northbound lane of Hales Mills Road before colliding with Argostinger’s motorcycle.
The sheriff said Brownell was charged at the scene with failure to yield the right of way to another vehicle and that the investigation is continuing.
Lorey said investigators from his department shut down State Highway 29 for a period of time while conducting an accident investigation.
He said Brownell was not hurt in the crash.
Members of the Berkshire Fire Department and the Ambulance Service of Fulton County also responded to the scene, said Lorey.
