The Fifth Annual Richfield Springs Pride Days is set for this August, with a parade and talent show, amusement rides and some live entertainment.
Pride Days, organized by the Richfield Springs Community Center, will take place Aug. 12, 13 and 14. Many of the events will take place at Spring Park on Route 20. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the center.
“We’ll have live entertainment this year — The Nancy Kenyon Band,” said Jackie Hinckley, one of the organizers. “It’s something kind of different.”
Returning this year will be the Utica Zoomobile, the talent show and the Rotary sidewalk sale. The parade will step off from Elm Street at 5 p.m. Saturday and finish at Spring Park, where many of the activities will take place. Gillette Show Amusement Rides will run throughout the weekend: Friday from 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the Zone Teen Council will operate the Kids Country Contests running games such as sack races, three legged races and more.
Organizers for the talent show are looking for a range of talent, but all clothing and acts must be appropriate for family viewing. Application and fee can be sent to Rebecca Marzeski, the show’s coordinator, at 127 Hillside Dr., Richfield Springs, NY 13439. Dress rehearsal will be Aug. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the community center, at the corner of Ann and Walnut streets. Cost of the talent show is $10 per act. The show will go from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 14. Awards will be $100 for first, $75 for second, $50 for third and $25 for fourth.
The Richfield Springs Lioness will sponsor yard sales again this year. Those who want to get on the map can send $5 to Karen Kress, P.O. Box 137, Richfield Springs, NY 13439. Checks may be made out to the Lioness Club.
The Richfield Springs Community Center will also hold a yard sale and sponsor a “Junk In Your Trunk” for the first time. For $5 per car, people can park at the community center and sell items from their trunks or bring a small table to set up.
