The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area conducted its annual Day of Thanks on Wednesday as a way to reach out and thank individuals, organizations and companies for their donations, hard work and effort to better the entire community by supporting the United Way.
While visiting more than 10 places of work, United Way staff members made their way to the Herkimer County Treasurer’s Office to thank the employees for all that they do.
United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area Executive Director Brenda Episcopo said, “Each year the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area holds an annual fundraising campaign and this year Herkimer County had an excellent campaign with an increase in total dollars.”
For the 2012 fundraising campaign, the United Way estimated it raised approximately $2.2 million with the help of 167 companies in the service area, said Episcopo.
In an attempt to reach out and thank as many people as possible in one day, the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area took a three prong approach to cover all its bases through email, mailed letters and telephone calls.
