During the annual organizational meeting of the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School Board of Education Tuesday, board members elected officers to lead them during the upcoming school year. Those chosen for 2011-12 included President Michael Button and Vice President Lisa LoRe, who assumed their posts after the administration of their oaths of office.
Oaths of faithful performance were also administered to Superintendent of Schools Robert Reina and newly elected board members Angela Service and Joseph Ciccone.
The meeting was held in the middle school/high school library.
Appointments and designations approved during the meeting included the following:
Christopher Abdoo, district treasurer; Connie Ferrucci, clerk of the board; M&T Bank, tax collector; Karen Wasielewski, deputy treasurer; Moore & Hart of Utica, independent auditor; Questar III BOCES, internal auditor; Carm Cooper, claims auditor; Joyce Dayton, Committee on Special Education/504 chairperson; impartial hearing officers, per State Education Department process; and Jana Lambert, CSE/Committee on Preschool Special Education substitute chairperson.
Appointed as surrogate parents were Wendy Shufelt and Jon Loiacano; Jeffrey LaGase was named as athletic director; Reina as the district’s sexual harassment officer; Donna Barberio, Paul Girsdansky and Deborah LaVeck as systems operators; and Donna Barberio as information system and support specialist.
Other appointments included the firm of Ferrara, Fiorenza, Larrison, Barrett & Reitz, school attorney; and Coleen Grazizdei, central treasurer. Designated as district insurance agents were Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, health; Utica National Insurance Group, liability, property, auto, umbrella; and Commercial Travelers Insurance Co., student accident.
Named as official bank depositories for 2011-12 were Chase, M&T Bank, Bank of America, Citizens and Adirondack Bank.
Regular monthly meetings will be held on the second Tuesdays of each month and fourth Tuesdays if necessary, except in December. The school budget and election vote will be held on May 15, 2012.

The LEA designee for asbestos is Alton Gage; Abdoo is records management officer, and Dr. Bruce Race is the chemical hygiene officer. The mileage reimbursement rate was set at $0.555.

Bonding in the amount of $1.4 million was approved for the district treasurer and business administrator; $1 million for the district tax collector; $400,000 each for the central treasurer, internal claims auditor and superintendent; and $100,000 for the Employee Blanket Bond.
The district’s substitute teacher list will be that of the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES, with substitute teacher rates of $75 per day for certified teachers, $55 per day for uncertified teachers and $51 per day for teacher’s aides and assistants’ substitutes.
