Judith A. Gilmartin, age 65, of Main Street, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2010, in Bassett Heathcare, Cooperstown.

She was born on January 19, 1945, in Hamlet, NC, daughter of the late Stanley and Lillian Geyda.  Judy was raised in Queens and was a graduate of Jamaica High School. As a true patriot of America, on January 29, 1962, she enlisted in the US Air Force as a medic. She was honorably discharged on December 8, 1965. She continued her education at Wright State College and received her degree in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta. She was first married to Albert Neria. On March 20, 1982, she was united in marriage with Joseph P. Gilmartin, Sr., in Long Island. They, at one time, lived in Richfield Springs and in 1987 moved to Jordanville.

Mrs. Gilmartin had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Jordanville Federated Church.  She most recently was in the process of starting a special needs program at the church for the disabled.  She was a member of the Richfield Springs Lioness Club. To all who knew her, they will remember a caring, hopeful person who enjoyed doing for others. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband of twenty-eight years, Joseph P. Gilmartin, Sr.; one son, Joseph P. Gilmartin, Jr., and his companion, Tamara Richards, of Springfield, OH; three daughters, Catherine Neria, and Debbie Clements and her husband, Aaron, all of Herkimer, and Jessica Gilmartin and her husband, Mustapha Sahli, of Jordanville, Jennifer Gilmartin and her fiancé, Travis Walsh, of Delhi; a brother, Thomas Czaplicki, of Wyandotte, MI; and two grandchildren, Joseph Gilmartin, III, of Springfield, OH, and Isabel Clements, of Herkimer.
