Merriell Fake, 85, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009, in Florida.
Merriell was born on Nov. 8, 1923, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Claude and Mariam (House) Thayer. She attended Ilion schools graduating from Ilion High School in 1941 where she was crowned Prom Queen. She was a graduate of the University of Rochester-School of Nursing. Merriell was married to Charles Fake who passed away in 1990.
She lived in Newtonville, N.Y., and worked as the Town Nurse for the Town of Colonie until her retirement in 1985.
Merriell is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon Fake of New Hampshire, Thomas and Shirley Fake of Hawaii, a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Cummings of Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
Graveside services for Merriell will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. The Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate. Online condolences can be left at www.whiter-hendrix.com.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion.
