Christobel I. (Trask) Sube, 74, of 123 Sherwood Acres Dr., Apt. No. K-41, Herkimer, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010, at Folts Homes, Herkimer, where she had been a resident for the past four months.
She was born on April 28, 1936, in Cooperstown, the daughter of the late Homer I. and Margaret (Bailey) Trask, and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School, class of 1954.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 52 years, Michael J. Sube, on June 14, 1958, at St. Mary’s Church, Little Falls. The couple left Little Falls in 1959 and moved to Gouverneur where they resided for 42 years, and where Michael was employed as a pharmacist. After his retirement in 1998, the couple relocated to Herkimer for a short time and then moved to Fredericksburg, Va. In 2003, they returned to Little Falls and eventually settled in Herkimer.
Mrs. Sube was employed at one time as a dental assistant for Dr. Adam Pereske, DDS, Little Falls.
In 1969, Mrs. Sube received one of the first kidney transplants in the country. Both she and her husband were strong supporters of organ donation.
While in Gouverneur, she was the recorder for American Red Cross blood drives for many years, as well as a former Cub Scout den mother and was active in the Mothers’ March of Dimes.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her son, Jeffrey M. Sube, of Baltimore, Md.; her daughter, Carrie B. Gabriel, of Arvada, Colo.; her sister, Naomi Gross, of Herkimer; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Parish Church, corner of Main and John streets, Little Falls, with the Rev. Thomas Lawless officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
The family will be present at the church to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the Mass.

It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Sube be considered to the National Kidney Foundation of Central New York, 731 James St., Syracuse, NY 13203 or to Folts Homes Foundation, 104 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
