Stanley J. Lonchek, 72, of West Winfield, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his home.
He was born on November 13, 1937, in Riverhead, Long Island, NY, a son of the late Stephen J. and Rose Kujawski Lonchek. He graduated from West Winfield Central School in 1956. He married Ann Dorety on February 15, 1986, in West Winfield. He retired from Mt. Markham Central School District.
Stanley loved West Winfield and served his community in many ways. He was the Mayor of West Winfield from 2002 to 2008, served as the Fire Chief of the Henry Hiteman Engine and Hose Company, West Winfield Fire Department, and was a Critical Care Tech. and a Captain for the West Winfield Ambulance. Stanley also served with the Mid-State EMS Council in Utica and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council. Stanley enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Lonchek, of West Winfield; stepsons, William Moreau and his wife, Amanda, of TX, Gary Moreau, of West Winfield, Joseph Moreau, of Utica, and Mark Moreau, of Mohawk; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine McNamara, of West Winfield, and Zita Hunter, of Bridgewater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would to thank Joe Barletta, Jr., and Dan Barletta, Eileen, the staff at Bassett Healthcare and Hospice for all the support, care and comfort that they gave to Stanley and his family.
The funeral will be on Monday at 10:00 at St. Joseph’s Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 W. Main St., West Winfield. The West Winfield Fire Department will pay their respects at 4:30 during the calling hours.
