Shirley J. Bicknell, 66, of 759 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, and for many years a resident of Creekside Courts, Herkimer, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, at Little Falls Hospital.

She was born on April 26, 1943, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Howard and Mildred (Predmore) Dunn. She was educated in Herkimer and Trumansburg Schools.

An avid reader, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and beadwork, and displayed many of her crafts at the Herkimer County Fair, where she won several ribbons. At one time, she also belonged to several bowling leagues in the Herkimer area and was a fan of Elvis Presley.

Shirley was employed at one time by the Salvation Army, the Herkimer County Tax Assessor's Office, Cook’s Taxi and Big Jim’s Sub Shop, all of Herkimer.

She is survived by her son, Scott Bicknell, Little Falls; her daughter, Melissa Bicknell and her companion, Thomas Hunt, Little Falls; her step-parents, Hilton and Edith Acers, Richfield Springs; her brother, Frank (Florie) Dunn, Oneida Lake; her sister, Frances (Tim) Carson, Lake Waccamaw, NC; her grandson, Scott Bicknell, Little Falls; nieces, Debbie Chapman, Donna Dorr, Theresa Baschon, Denise Barker and Janice Alberry; cousins, Joan Whiteman and Ruth Cipriano; several other nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dog, Poco. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald, Howard and Robert Dunn.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2010, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Michael Pliseck VFW Post #4915, 129 Mohawk Street, Herkimer.

Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
