On Nov. 9, 2012, Karen Korba passed away, with her sister at her side, after a brief illness.
Karen was born in Herkimer on May 24, 1943, to the late Joseph and Mildred (Hight) Korba. Karen was raised and educated in Herkimer. Her initial career was with the Mohawk Data Sciences Corporation and her most recent career was with the Herkimer Central School District. She was an avid horsewoman and loved all animals.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Korba Nester; brother-in-law, Christopher Nester; niece, Teagan Nester; nephew, Joseph Nester; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her beloved welsh corgi, Preacher.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. (to be postponed if snow is covering the ground).
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local Hospice or to a pancreatic cancer research foundation.
