Stanley “Stan” Miklic

Mr. Stanley “Stan” Miklic, 84, of Loomis Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 25, 2009 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1914, in Yugoslavia, son of the late Floyd and Julia (Janez) Miklic and came to America in 1938. He was united in marriage with Sophie Petavs in St. Mary’s Church on Aug. 27, 1949; a devoted union of 48 years until her passing on Sept. 26, 1997. Mr. Miklic was a proud United States veteran, having served during World War II with the Army. He enlisted on April 1, 1943, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 31, 1945, holding the rank of Tech 5. He was last employed with Cherry Burrell, Little Falls as a welder, retiring in 1988. Stan was a devoted, faith filled member of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. He was also a former member of the Slovenian Home.
Mr. Miklic was a wonderful husband, father and brother who will be missed by all who knew him. In his spare time he enjoyed puttering in the cellar and was always fixing and welding objects. He was known by many in his neighborhood as the “car pooler.” Stan went above and beyond for everyone and was always there to lend a helping hand. He was active outdoors and enjoyed mowing the lawn and shoveling snow.
Survivors include his beloved family; two sons: Richard Miklic and wife Barbara of Little Falls and Larry Miklic of Little Falls; three brothers: Louis Miklic and wife Carol of St. Johnsville, Joseph Miklic of Saranac Lake and Floyd Miklic and wife Esther of Albany; a sister: Frances Micklovzina of Oregon; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mr. Miklic’s funeral will commence at 10:30 a.m. on Monday June 29, from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main and John streets, Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Sophie. Military honors will be offered by the United States Army.
