Anna C. Kubecka, age 88, of State Highway 168, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, 2012, in her home. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on March 7, 1924, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Stancik Kiska. A lifelong area resident, Anna attended Van Hornesville Central School.
On April 20, 1940, she was united in marriage with John Kubecka in Herkimer. Anna and John shared 72 years together, operating a dairy farm in Paines Hollow. She was a member of the Paines Hollow United Methodist Church and an active member of the Women’s Christian Association, serving as their treasurer for several years. Anna was a very active member of the Paines Hollow Grange, holding several offices and serving on several committees. She also belonged to the Home Bureau, where she enjoyed cooking and crafts.
Surviving besides her husband, John, are two daughters, Marlene Rostohar and her husband, Brandt, of St. Johnsville, Betty Diana and her husband, Anthony, of Manlius; two sons, Melvin Kubecka and his wife, Diana, and Richard Kubecka and his wife, Brenda, all of Mohawk; eleven grandchildren, Raymond Rostohar, of Shawnee, Kan., Eric Rostohar, of Ilion, Terry Pagano, of Newport, Tammy Kubecka, of Little Falls, Cynthia Shaw, of Philadelphia, Pa., Patricia Diana, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Susan Diana, of Philadelphia, Pa., Julie Metz, of Ilion, Jodi Kubecka, of Syracuse, Kristen Kohl, of Ilion, and Richard Kubecka, of Ilion; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mayton, and a brother, Joseph Holovitz.
Calling hours for Mrs. Kubecka will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home immediately after at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Margaret Donaghy officiating. Interment will take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls.
