Rosetta T. Christman, 88, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 18, 2013, in Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown, with her family by her side.

She was born January 10, 1925, in Fairfield, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lila McClain Edick. Rosetta was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She married Alexander J. Christman. Mr. Christman passed away November 22, 1975.

Rosetta, for many years, was a foster parent. Throughout the years, she touched the lives of over 400 children, whom were still a large part of her life. For her undying dedication as being a foster parent, Anthony Maneen, Herkimer County Legislator, proclaimed Friday, May 17th, 2002, as "Rosetta Christman" Day in Herkimer County. The Christman family was declared Family of the Year in 1998 by the Family Nurturing Center. She also received from the Herkimer Elks Lodge #1439 "Mother of the Year" honors. Rosetta received many many awards and letters of "thank you" from the Herkimer County Department of Social Services. She was an active member of the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post #25, Mohawk, for over sixty years.

Rosetta is survived by her children, Larry Edick and his wife, Patricia, of Newcomb, NY, and Darlene Christman, of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Larry Edick, of Georgia, Sheree Maddison and her husband, James, of Hudson Falls, NY, Suzanne Griffis and her husband, Philip, of Gansevoort, NY, Scott Edick and his wife, Jessica, of Chestertown, NY, Robert Brough, III, of Frankfort, and Mark Brough and his wife, Shannon, of Ilion; her great-grandchildren, Kinsey and Riley Maddison, Ethan and Kurt Griffis, Alexander and Amber Brough, Lance and Chelsey Jones and Mark A. Brough; her sister, Diana Countryman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosetta's funeral will held 5 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, from the chapel of the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Main St.), Ilion, Town of Frankfort, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment in Mohawk Cemetery will take place later this spring at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 2 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Contributions, in Rosetta’s memory, may be offered to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc., 14 Technology Drive, Suite 2, Setauket, NY 11733. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
