Our “Amazing Gracie,” Gracie Margaret Lawton, age 21 months, passed from the loving arms of her family into the arms of the angels this morning, Jan. 17, 2012.
Gracie was born on April 14, 2010, in New Hartford, a daughter of Geoffrey and Lisa (Mocko) Lawton. Although her life was short, she touched many with her remarkable grace and courage. She will always be remembered as our happy, sweet, loving, blue eyed little girl. Gracie taught her family, friends and community the true lessons of life’s little importances and showed us how it only takes one beautiful little girl to create an army of love and compassion.
Gracie is survived by her loving parents, Geoffrey and Lisa; a brother, Luke; and her adoring grandparents, Robert and Carol Mocko and Ken and Barbara Lawton. She also leaves her devoted aunts and uncles, Ken and Carol Mocko, of Hawaii, Chris and Marlie Lawton, of Fulton, and Greg and Kara Duch, of Connecticut. She also leaves many cousins and great-aunts and uncles.
Gracie’s family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Porter and the staff at Albany Medical Center, along with the many friends and relatives who offered support during this very difficult time.
A Mass of the Angels will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Anthony Barratt, assisted by Deacon James Bower, on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Gracie will be laid to rest in Armory Hill Cemetery, directly following. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (town of Frankfort), 894-8000.
In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider a contribution to the Gracie Lawton Fund, c/o Geoffrey and Lisa Lawton, 5 Hillview Drive, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
