WEST WINFIELD — Paul J. Fohs Jr., 79, of West Winfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1928 in Ozone Park, N.Y., a son of the late Paul J. and Blanche V. (Holland) Fohs Sr. He received his education in Queens, N.Y. and attended St. John’s University and did his graduate studies at N.Y.U. in New York City. On Dec. 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he married Joyce Kammer, a blessed union of over 50 years. He once resided in Brentwood, Long Island, and later moved to this area in 1969, where they owned and operated the Millers Motel in East Winfield, N.Y.
In Brentwood, he worked for the Long Island Railroad for 8 years in the Accounting Dept. After moving to the area, he worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 10 years in the Accounting Dept. He also taught night classes at MVCC for 3 years. Paul retired from the Folts Home in Herkimer, N.Y. as an accountant and the Director of Finance. 
He was a member of the Cedar Lake Methodist Church in Cedar Lake, N.Y., where he was a lay leader for many years. Together with his wife, they lead the 4-H Horse Drifters Club for a few years. He was a Boy Scout leader in Brooklyn and also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Herkimer.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Fohs of West Winfield; his children, Blanche Davis and her husband Patrick of West Winfield, Pamela Thomas and her husband Joseph also of West Winfield, Paul Fohs III and his wife Rose of Ilion, N.Y., and Gregg Fohs and his dear friend, Shelly Guske of West Winfield, also eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Walter Fohs of Cedarville, N.Y .
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St. West Winfield with the Rev. Elizabeth Harter of the Cedar Lake Methodist Church officiating and the Rev. Roger Williams of the Waterbury Presbyterian Church in Oriskany, co-officiating. Interment will be in the Twilight Rest Cemetery in Monticello, N.Y.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
