William C. Towsley, 66, of Syracuse, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.

William was born in Syracuse, the son of Kenneth and Mary Towsley, and was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. William was the Business Manager of IBEW Local 43 and a member of IBEW for 41 years. He was very active in community organizations, having served on several boards, including Hospice of CNY, Central New York Building Trades Association and the Community General Hospital Foundation.

He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Jennifer) and William, of Syracuse; his daughters, Tracy (Nathaniel) Walker, of Syracuse, and Jennifer (Jeremy) Mettler, of Rochester; his grandchildren, Donovan, Colin, Patrick, Bella and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Noreen (Mullen) Towsley, and his two brothers, John and Thomas Towsley.

Services will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse. Calling hours will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at The Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
