John E. Boardman, 39, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in Little Falls Hospital, following a brief illness.
John was born on Aug. 26, 1973, in Herkimer, the son of Clifford D. Boardman, Sr. and Julia Rose Downs and was educated in Herkimer schools.
At one time, John was employed with Tri-State Industrial Laundries. He was a member of the American Legion Herkimer Post No. 38 SAL. John was an avid sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his son, John E. Boardman, Jr., of Frankfort; his mother, Julia Rose Congdon, of Ilion; his father, Clifford D. Boardman, Sr., of Herkimer; his siblings, Cheryl Brown and her fiance, James Carbone, Sr., of Frankfort, Kandy and Michael Bush, of Ilion, and Brian K. Boardman, of Herkimer; three very close and special friends, Sandra Knoupf, of Herkimer, with whom he resided, Jenifer Canter, of Frankfort, and Robert Gushue, of Mohawk. John was predeceased by his brother, Clifford D. Boardman, Jr. in 2008.
John’s funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 4 p.m. from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, with Pastor Gene Kipper officiating. Interment will be made in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
