Louise M. Looman, age 89, of 329 Eureka Avenue. God has taken Louise from her cherished children on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Valley Health Services, where she had resided since July of 2012.
Louise was the daughter of Anna M. and Dorr E. Risedorph. An honorably discharged US Navy veteran, she proudly served her country, with many happy memories, during World War II as a Pharmacists Mate on the East coast.
She was married to Grant J. Looman; they shared a fifty-seven year in-separable union until his passing on November 10, 2003. For twenty years, Mrs. Looman worked at Sperry Rand in Utica.
Louise found much joy playing the piano, loved music, singing and laughing. She was the second oldest member of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer.
Her world revolved around her children, leaving a daughter, Anna M. Kilbourn and son-in-law, James, of Schuyler; her son, Dorr E. Looman and daughter-in-law, Joan, of California; her brother, Ralph Risedorph, of California; her grandson, Darren Looman; great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Grant, of Michigan; dearest friends, Jennifer Main, Carl, Roma, Andrea and Aileen Viel, Doris Kilbourn and her grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer and Steven; also, her beloved friend and neighbor of seventy years, Louise (Carmella) Walawender.
At this stage in life, one doesn't get to meet new friends, but at Valley Health Services the wonderful staff enabled her the opportunity of making cherished friends, enjoying music, church and many social events. "Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise." Her smile will not be forgotten.
Calling hours for Mrs. Looman will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home with the Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer/Little Falls, officiating. Interment with military honors will be later this spring in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
To show their gratitude, her children request memorials be made to the Activities Department at Valley Health Services, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
