Jack L. Kast, 65, of Brennan Rd., Ilion, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, with his loving family at his side.
Jack was born November 22, 1944, in Herkimer, the son of the late LeRoy and Esther (Leonard) Kast. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School Class of 1962 and was married to Maureen Woods on April 26, 1969, in Utica at Sacred Heart Church. The couple had resided in the Town of Columbia since 1972.
Mr. Kast had been employed as a gun designer at Remington Arms, Ilion, for 38 years. He was a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge and the Karem Billiard Club of Little Falls.
Jack very much enjoyed billiards and had a passion for collecting vintage cars of which he was very proud of. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being on the St. Lawrence at camp with his family.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Maureen; his loving children: a son, Jason Kast, and a daughter, Erin Kast, both of Ilion; two sisters, Sharon Jaquish and Cheryl Kast Masur, both of East Herkimer; his loving grandchild, Jordan Kast; mother-in-law, Eleanor Woods; his in-laws, William and Cheryl Woods; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was predeceased by a sister, Sandy McCarthy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 11:00 AM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion-Frankfort. Spring burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, from 5:00-7:00 PM. Members of the Ilion Elks Lodge are asked to meet Tuesday at 6:00 PM for ritualistic services.
