Frances L. (Zurhorst) Curran, of Sherwood Acres Apartments, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, July 18, 2010, peacefully, in her home in the comfort of her good friends. She was 78.
Fran was born in Queens on February 19, 1932, daughter of the late Francis A. and Louise (Blatz) Zurhorst, and was educated in New York City schools. Prior to coming to Herkimer, Fran was a proud employee of News Day on Long Island. She enjoyed working here and was a dedicated employee.
A history buff, Fran enjoyed brushing up on current and past historical events. She enjoyed photography and was a huge New York Mets and New York Jets fan. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include three nephews, Wayne and Kim Matthison and three sons, of Missouri, Eric Matthison, of Herkimer, and William Matthison and daughter, of Little Falls; many friends; and her extended family, the Nabinger and Dorantes family of Herkimer.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Margaret A. Snyder.
Fran's friends and family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care given by everyone at Superior Home Health Care.
In respecting Fran's wishes, there are no public calling hours or funeral service. Friends are invited to a celebration of her life at the Nabinger home, 425 W. German St., Herkimer, on Saturday, July 24, 2010, from 12 to 3 p.m.
The family is being cared for by the Enea Family Funeral Home — Daniel J. Enea, funeral director.
