Dennis L. “POP” Hartman, 50, of Litchfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 26, 2009 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1958, a son of the late Harry and Mary (Dager) Hartman. On July 10, 1976, he married Laurel Foster a blessed union of over 32 years. He was employed for over 25 years with Union Tools in Frankfort.
Dennis was a member of the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, and the Tri Valley Coin Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and also enjoyed coin collecting, and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, but most of all, Dennis was a real family man, who loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored, and loved to take for rides on his four-wheeler all around the family farm. He was described by his wife and children as a person that they could always depend on. He was a true definition of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be, he was always there to help no matter what it was that they needed, and assured them that he was just a phone call away, they will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel; his good friend and father-in-law, Ferris Foster of Litchfield; his children, Dennis J. Hartman of Litchfield, Steven Hartman and his wife Janet of West Winfield, Chad Hartman and his wife Trina of Oriskany, Richard Hartman and his wife Janel of West Winfield; his adored grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Courtney, Nathan, Emily, Aubrey, Ricky, Machaela, and Hailey. He also leaves his brothers, David Hartman and his wife Valerie, Donald Hartman and his wife Pat, and Dale Hartman , as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Family Farm, 156 Foster Road, town of Litchfield. Interment will be on the Family Farm.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., West Winfield.
