Paul G. Raymond, 90, of Beecher Road, died on September 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.

Mr. Raymond was born on September 20, 1922, in Malone, a son of the late Frederick and Amanda (Robarge) Raymond. He graduated from Ilion High School and furthered his education at Clarkson University. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army Air Force and served with the 549th Fighter Squadron during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945 at the rank of Sergeant. On August 20, 1949, Paul was united in marriage with the former Eleanor G. Bennett at St. Patrick's Church, Utica. He was employed as a Civil Engineer for the NYSDOT, Utica Office, for over 40 years. Mr. Raymond was a member of Adirondack Post #1118 American Legion, Cold Brook. He was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors besides his wife of 63 years, Eleanor, include a son, John J. Raymond, of Poland; a brother, Frederick W. Raymond and his wife, Barbara, of Virginia; two granddaughters, Janelle Raymond, of Rome, and Kimberly Raymond Dipierro, of Utica; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by two sons, William Paul Raymond, in 2003, and Robert Guy Raymond, in 1971.

In accordance with Paul's wishes, a Memorial Mass will take place at St. John's Church, Newport, on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. with Father William A. Gorman, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Ilion, where military honors will be accorded by the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard and Adirondack Post #1118 American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the Poland Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 117, Poland, NY 13431.  Envelopes will be available at the church on Thursday.
