Julia Ann Bunce, 20, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, due to complications from a bone marrow transplant after a courageous four year battle with leukemia.
She was born May 25, 1992, in Geneva, the daughter of David R. and Teresa L. (Donato) Bunce. Julia was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 2010, and a graduate of the Herkimer County BOCES cosmetology program. She also attended the Aesthetic Science Institute in Latham.
Survivors include her loving parents, David and Teresa Bunce, of Herkimer, a beloved brother, Wesley Thomas Bunce, of Herkimer, her paternal grandmother, Gloria Jean Bunce, of Herkimer, her maternal grandfather, Rudolph T. Donato, of Herkimer, several aunts and uncles, several special and close cousins, and many friends.
Julia was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Richard E. Bunce, and her maternal grandmother, Mary E. Donato.
Friends and relatives may call at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi& Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at 9 a.m. from the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph, South Main Street, Herkimer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas Lawless, pastor. Spring burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer (866-1500). All memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley, 1415 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501 or to the Herkimer ARC, 350 S. Washington St., P.O. Box 271, Herkimer, NY 13350.
