GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Golden Bombers get third straight win, first in CSC-I play

ILION 46, CANASTOTA 39

The Ilion Golden Bombers extended their winning streak to three games and won for the first time in league play Wednesday when they defeated the Canastota Raiders 46-39.

The Golden Bombers (6-7, 1-4 CSC-I) have won three consecutive games for the second time this season. They started the season with three non-league wins before losing seven games in a row. Wednesday’s win was their first in Center State Conference Division I play and their first against a Class B opponent.

Ilion outscored a Canastota (5-7, 2-3 CSC-I) 15-4 in the first quarter and maintained a five-point lead at halftime despite scoring only two points in the second quarter.

Emily LaLonde led the Golden Bombers with 15 points while Nicole Doolen had 13 and Lauren Metz scored eight.

Shea Foster scored 17 points to lead the Raiders.

Ilion’s next game is Tuesday at Holland Patent.
