The Herkimer girls softball squad split its two games at the Pam "Colby" Eisenhut Memorial Softball Tournament in Canastota on Saturday.
The Magicians lead LaFayette from start to finish posting a one-sided 7-1 victory.
Jackie Orcutt only allowed one run in the bottom of the seventh inning after the game was well in hand. She had one strike out and two walks while giving up just three hits.
Sarah Meszler had an RBI and two runs scored on two hits in four at-bats for Herkimer. Shauna Mills also went two-for-four with an RBI. And Emily Stalteri added two RBIs on one hit for Herkimer.
Priscilla Cronin lead LaFayette’s offense going two-for-three. And Sugar Thomas was the losing pitcher.
The win brought Herkimer to 6-7 overall and 4-3 in the league. LaFayette dropped to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Herkimer lost its second game of the day to Seton Catholic by a score of 9-5.

The game was tied at four going into the third when Seton Catholic took a one-run lead. Catholic then added three more runs in the fifth inning.
Herkimer cut the lead to three in the sixth inning, but Catholic pushed it back to four in their final at bat and held the Magicians scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning
Herkimer ended the day at 6-8 overall.
