Generals have three players with double doubles in win

After pulling out a four-point win (62-58) against Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday, the Generals dominated in their fourth consecutive away game, beating Cayuga Community College 77-48 on Monday.

Herkimer (22-2) had big games from Akeem Ellis, Rhamel Williams and Ian Austin-Michaud. Each finished with double doubles, and combined for 40 points, eight points less than Cayuga’s game total.

Ellis finished the game with 14 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and three steals. Williams finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. And Austin-Michaud finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

With Ellis, Williams and Austin-Michaud playing great in their win, the game got out of hand early, with the Generals winning the first half 37-17 and the second half 40-31.

Also helping Herkimer to their excellent play was Matt Baldwin, Steven Thompson, Jordan Hill, Cliff Brown, Reggie German and Darien Thomas. Baldwin had 14 points, Thompson had six points, Hill had two points, Brown had seven points, German had six points and Thomas had two points.

As for Cayuga, they had nine players score in the game. Only one of them scored in double figures. That was Terry Harrison who finished with 10 points. After Harrison Cayuga’s top three scorers were Donald Lewis (8), Maurice Mobley (7) and Tyree Rowser (7).

Herkimer’s next game is against Adirondack Community College on Friday. The Generals will host the game, their second to last home game of the season. Friday’s game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
