Mohawk scored single runs in five different innings to beat Frankfort-Schuyler 5-2 in a Center State Conference Division I baseball game Friday afternoon.
BASEBALL
The Mohicans (4-4, 8-6) took a 3-0 lead then answered two runs by the Maroon Knights by adding insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Mohawk has now won three of its last four league games to move back to .500.
John LeClair went the distance on the mound for Mohawk scattering nine hits and just the two runs in the fourth inning. LeClair struck out three and walked just one.
Frankfort had a chance to get to LeClair early but left the bases loaded in the first inning.
Andy Conklin had a big day at the plate for the Mohicans with three hits including a double and a run scored. Ryan Hunt drove in two runs for the Mohicans and Billy LeClair doubled.
Vinny Reina had three hits for the Maroon Knights (5-3, 10-5) and Dylan Todd had two hits. Joe Gatto doubled and drove in a run.
Andrew Talerico went the first 5 2/3 innings and took the loss.

OPPENHEIM 3
POLAND — Poland scored five times in the first inning and kept piling it on from there as they beat the Hawks in a CSC Division IV game.
The Torndaoes (5-2, 5-5-1) had 14 hits on the day with Justin Weakley getting four of them and driving in four runs. His brother Troy also had four RBI while Richard Hazard and Mike Hennings had three hits each.
Hazard had a doubled and scored five runs and Hennings two doubles and three RBI.
Brandon Tabor went the distance scattering seven hits with seven strikeouts and two walks to pick up the win.
Shawn Seeley lasted just three innings and took the loss for Oppenheim (0-7, 0-13). Preston Brown had three hits with a double for the Hawks.
WEST CANADA 8
ORISKANY 3
ORISKANY — West Canada Valley jumped out to an early lead and beat Oriskany 8-3 Friday to take sole possession of first place in the Center State Conference’s Division III.
The Indians (6-0, 10-6) scored a run in the first then added three more in the second to take control of the Redskins, who entered the game 4-0 in the division.
Alex Maxwell had an RBI single in the second inning and West Canada also scored on two wild pitches.
The Indians then put the game away with three runs in the seventh inning.
Dan DeKalb, who struggled early in the season with a shoulder problem, went the distance to pick up the win for West Canada. Pitching on just three days rest, DeKalb did not walk a batter and struck out eight as he allowed two earned runs on six hits.
“He was very effective around the plate the whole day,” West Canada coach D.J. Shepardson said of his ace. “We really set the tone early and Dan took care of the rest.”
Mike Salek had three hits for the Indians and DeKalb had a triple and RBI.
Jeff Sergott was knocked out in the second and took the loss for Oriskany (4-1, 11-3).Mike Sreca had two hits, a double and a triple for the Redskins.
Things won’t get any easier for the Indians as they host another of their top league rivals, Westmoreland, on Monday.
