WEST CANADA VALLEY 69, POLAND 40

The West Canada Valley Indians set their season’s scoring high Wednesday in a 69-40 win over the Poland Tornadoes.

The Indians (4-3), whose previous high had been 48 points in a Dec. 19 win at Mohawk, scored 20 points in the first quarter and 19 in the second while building a 21-point halftime lead at home. Leading scorer Alexis Fauvelle had a season-high 25 points with seven rebounds for West Canada Valley while Morgan Lynch added 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots, Mikey Maxwell had eight points and seven rebounds and Courtney Phillips scored 10 points, also a season-high. Carissa Tasovac grabbed a team-leading 15 rebounds.

Briana Goggin scored 13 points and Shawna Rickard had 11 for Poland (4-5).

Both teams play on the road Friday, West Canada Valley at Frankfort-Schuyler and Poland at Oriskany.

DOLGEVILLE 44, ST. JOHNSVILLE 39

ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. —Tereza VanOlst scored a career-high 24 points for Dolgeville Wednesday in the Blue Devils’ 44-39 win over the St. Johnsville Saints.

The teams were tied after the first quarter and Dolgeville (6-3) opened a seven-point lead at halftime. The Blue Devils led by as many as eight points in the second half and St. Johnsville (0-5) pulled within two twice in the final period as the game remained close until the end.

Jump shots by Jessi Hagadorn moved the Saints (0-5) within one basket at 32-30 and 34-32 before Dolgeville (6-3) made a 7-1 run and went up 41-33 on VanOlst’s layup with 2:35 left to play.

St. Johnsville got back within four points entering the final minute of play but was forced to foul and Crystal Boyer hit three of her four free throws to help secure a Dolgeville victory. The Blue Devils had missed eight of the 11 foul shots they had attempted up to that point in the game.

VanOlst had 12 rebounds in addition to her 24 points and recorded a double-double for the Blue Devils who had beaten St. Johnsville 48-34 at home Dec. 17. Marisa Chavez added sic points, 12 rebounds and seven steals. Barton had five steals and Lyndsey Stoehrer had eight assists.

Rylie Smith scored 20 points to lead St. Johnsville. Sam Cleveland added 10.

Dolgeville plays at Little Falls Friday. St. Johnsville has a home game Friday against Fort Plain.
