ILION 69, CLINTON 66
Herschel Ivey scored 42 points, including 17 in his team’s 26-point third quarter, and Ilion out-battled Clinton 69-66 in a Center State Conference Division I showdown Tuesday.
Ivey, a 5-foot-11 senior guard, was particularly clutch in the final two minutes, hitting a three-point play, passing to Ryan Lachacz for an easy bucket, connecting on another three-point play and hitting two foul shots with 19.7 seconds left to account for the final score. He hit 13 of 26 shots — 6 of 10 on three-pointers — and had 13 rebounds in playing every minute.
Brandon Harrigan added 14 points and Lachacz had 13 with nine rebounds for Ilion (7-3, 3-2 CSC-I).
Malaquias Canery led Clinton (8-3, 3-2 CSC-I) with 20 points and seven assists. Mike Hayduk had 18 and 10 rebounds. and Anthony Rizzo scored 14 points.
Ilion plays a crossover game Friday at Frankfort-Schuyler.
