POLAND 8, DeRUYTER 0

Tara Seigle, Mikayla Blumenstock and Paige Sullivan all scored multiple goals for the Poland Tornadoes who rolled through the opening round of their Columbus Day Tournament Saturday with an 8-0 win over DeRuyter.

The Tornadoes will play for the tournament championship Sunday at 2 p.,m. against Holland Patent, a 7-0 winner against Frankfort-Schuyler in the tournament’s opening match.

Seigle had three goals and an assist for Poland which led 4-0 at halftime. Blumenstock had two goals and two assists while Sullivan had two and one. Kara Morrison scored the Tornadoes’ other goal and Alyssa Lepper and Brittney Green each had an assist. Neither Courtney Green nor Kierston Backus was called upon to make a save.

Samantha Gordon had 16 saves for DeRuyter.

HOLLAND PATENT 7, FRANKFORT-SCHUYLER 0

RUSSIA, N.Y. — Julie Ferris had a goal and three assists for Holland Patent Saturday in the Golden Knights’ 7-0 win over the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights at Poland’s Columbus Day Tournament.

Andrea Stowell scored two goals for Holland Patent, Riley Reinold and Morgan Roller each had a goal and an assist, and Shay Callahan and Melissa Lennon each scored a goal. Nikki Lupia-Eannace made two saves and Courtney Divine had one in the combined shutout.

Cassandra Grippe had 17 saves for Frankfort-Schuyler which meets DeRuyter at 10 a.m. Sunday for the consolation match.
